Who we are
REAL Strategy Ltd, trading as REAL Growth Partnership, is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. Our registered office is 167-169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London W1W 5PF, United Kingdom.
For anything in this policy, including any request about your data, write to info@real-consulting.co.uk.
What we collect, and why
If you subscribe to our newsletter
We collect your email address and, if you choose one, the topic you are interested in. We use them to send you the newsletter and nothing else. We do not sell them and we do not pass them to anyone for their own marketing. The legal basis is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
If you contact us
This site has no contact form. When you email or telephone us, we hold whatever you send us for as long as it takes to deal with your enquiry and to keep a record of our dealings with you. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who get in touch.
When you simply read the site
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses and browser information, so that the site can be run and kept secure. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating and protecting the site.
We also measure which pages people read, in two ways that are deliberately different from one another:
- Vercel Web Analytics runs on every visit. It is aggregated and cookieless. It stores nothing on your device, does not follow you to other websites, and does not build a profile of you. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are read.
- Google Analytics runs only if you have said yes to it. It sets cookies and sends data to Google. The legal basis is your consent, and nothing to do with Google Analytics loads on your device until you give it.
Cookies and browser storage
This website sets no cookies of its own. If you consent to Google Analytics, Google sets its own cookies, and you can withdraw that consent at any time using the Cookies link in the footer of any page. Withdrawing it removes those cookies and stops the collection.
Separately from cookies, the site stores four small values in your browser’s local storage. They never leave your device and we cannot read them:
- whether you have answered the analytics question, and what you answered
- whether you have dismissed the newsletter prompt for good
- whether you have dismissed it for this visit only
- whether you have seen the site’s opening banner
Clearing your browser’s site data removes all four, at which point the site asks again.
Who else handles your data
We use a small number of providers, each for one job:
- Vercel hosts the website and provides the cookieless analytics described above.
- Resend stores the newsletter list and sends the newsletter.
- Google provides Google Analytics, and only if you have consented to it.
Some of these providers process data outside the United Kingdom. Where they do, the transfer is covered by the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful to the matter it concerns and to our records. Server logs and analytics are kept for the retention period each provider applies, which is a matter of months rather than years.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it
- have inaccurate data corrected
- have data erased
- restrict or object to how we use it
- receive it in a portable form
- withdraw consent at any time, where consent is what we relied on
Ask us by emailing info@real-consulting.co.uk. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did lawfully before you withdrew it.
If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Other websites
This site links to other websites, including our LinkedIn page. We are not responsible for how they handle your data, and this policy does not cover them.
